Taraba State Government – Nigeria declares support for GM Technology

“As a state, if we want to take agriculture to the next level, we have to adopt the use of modern technologies. We are happy that OFAB is not only here to sensitize but also encourage the people of Taraba state on the use of Modern technologies in Agriculture. Be assured of the support of Taraba state,” His Excellency, Hon Haruna Manu the Deputy Governor of the Taraba State said.

 The Deputy Governor said this during a courtesy call visit paid to the State Governor at the North East Geopolitical Zone OFAB Sensitization event in Jalingo, Taraba State. He welcomed the OFAB Planning Committee led by the Chairman and the Director General/CEO of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu and expressed delight in the choice of Taraba State for hosting OFAB 2017 in the North-East Region. He said Taraba State is an agrarian state and is working towards producing enough to feed the country.

“The use of science and technology in agriculture to attain food security in Taraba State cannot be over-emphasized and this has been demonstrated in the state by the construction of Green House in collaboration with the Israeli Experts. He added that the Green House project is already supplying vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper etc to Super Stores in Lagos and Abuja and thanked NABDA for setting up a Bioresources Development Centres in the State.
